Gwalior
   Situated south of the Yamuna River about 100 kilome-ters southeast of Bayana, Gwalior was controlled by the Pratiha-ras at the time of the Ghaurid conquest (1192). It was occupied by the Ghaurids in 1201. Iltutmish was the commandant of Gwalior under Qutb al-Din Aibek (1206-1210). Subsequently, the Prati-haras regained Gwalior for a brief span but were driven out by Il-tutmish in 1234. For some time, Gwalior was again in the hands of Hindu rebels, who were suppressed by 'Ala al-Din Khalji (1296-1316). Toward the end of Firuz Shah Tughlaq's reign (1351-1388), Gwalior came to be ruled by the Tomaras. Under the Saiyid dynasty, the Tomaras of Gwalior paid tribute to Delhi. Gwalior was annexed to the Lodi Empire by Ibrahim Lodi (1517-1526).
